General Settings

1. General
In the settings item “General Settings”, settings relating to the system and to the security of an Organization can be configured. This includes the following settings items:
- System → design theme and settings for automation errors
- Security → settings for password policies, sessions and two-factor authentication

| Session validity period in minutes | Configuration item for how long the validity period of the session is. This value determines the period after which a user is automatically logged out due to inactivity. By default, 60 minutes are set, after which an automatic logout is triggered. |

| IP address blocks for login check | This security setting checks the IP address (IPv4 addresses only) of the logged-in user.
By default, the IP address is checked against the first three blocks. If, for example, the third block changes, only the first two blocks still match and the affected user is automatically logged out. For static IP addresses, all four blocks can be used for the check. For dynamic IP addresses, it may be advisable to reduce the number of checked blocks in order to avoid frequent automatic logouts. If the value 0 is selected in this settings item, no IP address check is performed. When using an IPv6 address, the value 0 is mandatory. Additional settings explanation: On login, the user's IP address is stored. During usage, it is regularly checked whether the IP address has changed. If it deviates too much from the original address, the user is automatically logged out. This is intended to prevent an active session from being taken over or misused from a different IP address. Since IP addresses can change – particularly with dynamic internet connections – you can define how many parts of the IP address should be taken into account for the check. The fewer blocks are checked, the more stable the session; the more blocks are checked, the more secure the session. |

The password should be at least eight characters long, with a certain degree of complexity required. The password should consist of a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, digits and special characters.
